The last few months have been busy and constructive ones in the Arkansas Chapter as we have wrapped up the business of 2003 and have begun preparing for 2004. We have some wonderful new volunteers on board. Jamie Ewing has come on to Co-Chair the Conservation Committee with long-time Sierrans Bill Saunders and Tom McKinney. Laura and David Humphreys are getting a Membership Program up and running. Jasa Holt will be heading up our Website and News Committee. Jason Bolden is joining Rob Leflar on the Political Committee. We are extremely lucky to have each of these dedicated and enthusiastic individuals in the Sierra Club.
Over the next couple of months, our Committees will be developing a coordinated action plan for 2004. This plan will tie the activities of our various committees together, and will bridge local, state and national issues. Now is a great time to get involved! Our activities in 2004 will include water and forestry campaigns, outings, the development of a new website, and membership drives. We are starting Congressional Education Teams who will develop long-term relationships with Senators Lincoln and Pryor. Last, but certainly not least, we will be preparing for November’s election by educating voters about the disastrous environmental policies of the Bush administration. If you are interested in any of these exciting opportunities, or have an idea of your own for the upcoming year, please contact me.
