Message from your membership co-chairs

Hello! We would like to introduce ourselves: Laura and David Humphrey and we are the new co-chairs of the membership committee at Sierra Club.

We have been members here in Little Rock since we relocated to this city one year ago.  Sierra Club has been an expellant way for us to meet new friends, get acquainted with the great beauty Arkansas has to offer, and get involved in preserving our environment through political activism.

First of all, we’d like to welcome  Judy Gardner, who joined Sierra Club at our last meet up November 18th.  We’d liked to encourage all members to attend our monthly meetings, held the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Unitarian Church on  Reservoir Road in Little Rock. Our next meeting will be held there in February 2004, so please look in your mailbox for your reminder to join us.

If you know someone who would be interested in finding out more about what Sierra Club stands for, please invite them to come. The Sierra Club has been devoted to preserving nature’s miracles for over 100 years.

We are in need of volunteers for our various campaigns and committees such as:

 Outings committee:

This group of volunteers plans outings both short and long for every hiker.  Lead a group of fellow enthusiasts through your favorite Arkansas slice of nature!

Political Committee:

This committee has the opportunity to directly influence our lawmakers concerning the laws that affect our environment, not only in Arkansas, but also throughout the entire 50 states.

Sierra Club provides an influential lobbying power for our representatives.  Find out who’s voting for what both locally and in Washington and write the politicians we rely upon! Be Heard !

Conservation Committee:

This committee chooses target conservation issues such as clean water, urban sprawl, or National Forests and works to inform Sierra club members and local citizens about what is happening.

Membership Committee:

This committee works to recruit new members and enthuse existing members to take an active stance in what our club has to offer.

By being a member of Sierra Club, you get a chance to become involved. You’ll get the satisfaction of knowing you have preserved irreplaceable wild lands and wildlife.  Even if you have only a limited interest or amount of time, we can put you to good use to save our planet.

Please send us an email or call if you are willing to support the membership, outings, conservation or political committees and we will connect you to the right person.

Thanks !
Laura and David Humphrey
